These burgers are juicy and healthy and a family-friendly favorite.


1 1/2 pounds lean ground turkey
1 pear, peeled and coarsely grated
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 c coarse breadcrumbs
1/4 c chopped parsley
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 t chopped sage leaves
1 1/2 t chopped rosemary leaves
1 t kosher salt
1/4 t fresh ground pepper


Mix together all ingredients in large bowl. Divide mixture into eight portions and shape them into patties. Gently depress the center of each patty to prevent it from popping during grilling. Refrigerate until the grill is hot.

Fire up the grill and heat it to medium-hot. Wipe the rack with a canola oil-coated onion. Place the burgers down with the indentation facing up. Cook the burgers, untouched, for 5 to 7 minutes, until the bottoms are seared. Flip and continue grilling another 5 to 7 minutes until juice run clear.
