Ingredients

1 cup finely diced apples
1 cup finely chopped walnuts
1 teaspoons cinnamon
1 tablespoons sweet red wine

Directions

Combine all ingredients. You may blend all or some of the ingredients in a food process for a smoother version. For a chunkier charoset, chop manually. Cover tightly and refrigerate for several hours before serving.

I basically use your recipe. I use sweet apples although I know my mother and grandmother used tart apples. I add wine, cinnamon and sugar or honey to taste. Some people add lemon juice to add some sourness but I do not. I must be doing something right because people eat a lot of it!

where's the honey? Gotta have honey! Also, chopped pecans work nicely in place of walnuts. These measurements make too little -- depending on how many people there will be. I use about 20 apples, cup of nuts & rest of ingredients to taste. Gut Yontiv! Chag Sameach!
